Infrastructure Projects
Fort Cox Workshop Project
Fort Cox Agricultural College is working towards accreditation from the Engineering Council of South Africa to strengthen its agricultural engineering programs. To support this goal, Aurelian Beneficial Trust (ABT) has partnered with Barloworld Trust to modernize the college’s workshop facilities. Over a five-year commitment, Barloworld Trust has pledged substantial funding, managed by ABT, for acquiring essential machines and equipment.
Phase 1 of the refurbishment was successfully completed in May 2024, and Phase 2, focusing on procurement specifications, began in October 2024. This collaboration will significantly enhance the college’s capabilities, advancing its accreditation efforts.
ICT Infrastructure Project
Aurelian Beneficial Trust, in collaboration with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), is spearheading an ICT Infrastructure Development Project to enhance Fort Cox College’s capabilities. This initiative includes Fibre Installation and an upgraded server room.
The project recently completed a comprehensive feasibility assessment, led by IDC’s team of IT specialists during a site visit to Fort Cox College. The next phase involves finalizing project specifications in preparation for the tender process, marking significant progress toward implementation
Experiential Training and Industry Exposure
Number Two Piggeries and ABT have finalized an MOU to enable student placements and provide practical exposure opportunities for lecturers from Ikhala TVET, P.E TVET, and Fort Cox Agricultural College. The recruitment process for student placements is already underway, and preparations are being made for lecturer exposure activities scheduled for early 2025.
Barloworld Equipment, through its esteemed training academy, organized a comprehensive five-day workshop on Basic Engine Fundamentals for students and lecturers of Fort Cox Agricultural College. This partnership, facilitated by the Trust , provided an invaluable opportunity to enhance practical knowledge and exposure to modern machinery.
Harmony Gold Mining is in the process of formalizing an MOU with ABT and Vuselela TVET College to facilitate experiential training for Engineering students in the North West province.
